Missing .NET Framework 4.5.1 (KB2858725)
by davidtrans / July 18, 2014 6:47 AM PDT

Hello,
I deleted the above .NET file in error. The popup window asked me if it should be
deleted everywhere and I said yes.
I don't know if this loss will affect my normal operation of the laptop, but I suspect it might.
Can you tell me how I can download it from somewhere (from Microsoft?) and
restore things to the way they were before I made the mistake???
I'd be grateful.

The laptop is Gateway Model M-6843
with 3 GB MEMORY,
using 32 bit OS
2 GH Intel processor

Sincerely,
David

NET Framework 4.5.1 Can Be Downloaded...
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / July 18, 2014 8:53 AM PDT

from the link below but first, make sure you've uninstalled it completely from the Control Panel-Programs and Features:

Full Offline Installer (Download the full installation file from the link below, then run it after exiting your browser.)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40779

Still, it's not generally required for running your computer UNLESS a program specifically requires it. You might choose to wait a while to see if any programs asks for NET 4.5.1 installation.. It's your choice.

Hope this helps.

Grif

None that I've heard of..

Hi Miki..

No problems here. And I have yet to find anyone else with issues due to the update.

IF you should run into a problem ....

It's been noted by "someone" who specializes in patches, removing it should only require a simple repair. In other words, going to Program and Features, where you would eventually run the Repair Wizard. She feels Aaron Stebner's NET Framework Cleanup Tool would not be required. (I might use it anyway)

Thank you for the very useful information, which is what you always do so well......I appreciate. Methinks I can close out this thread now and proceed with the install of the latest NET Framework.

Sending Happy Thanksgiving wishes back to you.

Do you need it?
by bob b / November 27, 2013 11:38 PM PST

I don't seem to use anything that wants .net.
As best I can I have .net disabled......the machine runs fine.

I just took the update and hid it.
If you need .net that's different.
