This is a title you give your page within the meta tags so that when a person sees a link to your page from the search engine it has a title to go with it. Keywords should be used in this title because the search engine will use the words in the title to help it index your page.

The <meta> tag provides metadata about the HTML document. Metadata will not be displayed on the page, but will be machine parsable.

Meta elements are typically used to specify page description, keywords, author of the document, last modified, and other metadata.

The <meta> tag always goes inside the <head> element.

This fundamental SEO tactic can't be overstated in terms of its SEO importance.

I have recently enlisted the services of an SEO expert to help us optimize our site and rank for some specific keywords and I am glad I did. I thought my site was optimized: I read a ton of SEO info, stay up to date and track, track, track. But what I have found is that to build a site with true value you need organic traffic, period. And SEO is ever-changing. For me, running a business, I just don't have the time to do what it takes to be truly successful with SEO using white hat tactics.

If you don't have the resources to pay for a firm, be sure to at least do the basics...
