Matte Finish

by JoelMH / September 25, 2010 6:39 AM PDT

I'm interested in whether the Samsung 650 and 610 televisions come with matte screens. I have a very bright room with lots of lamps and daylight and am looking for a matte screen. It is difficult to figure out which tvs have them since the information doesn't seem to be included in the Samsung specs. Am I just looking in the wrong place?

If you get some TV and feel there's too much glare, there are some window films that you could try on it.

JoelMH,

All 610 and 630 models have a matte finish, except the LN55C610, and the LN55C630, both 55" screens. All of the other sizes (LN40C630, 46C630, etc) in both the 610/630 lineup all have matte finish screens.

You can usually tell if you turn the screen off and look. The Ultra Clear Panel (or, what people sometimes call the "glossy" panel) is still a great panel, unless you have a lot of windows behind where you sit to watch TV with ample sunlight. In most cases, if a glass tube TV was there previously, the Ultra Clear Panel will do just fine.

Does that help?

Why would only the 55" models in the 610 and 630 series not have matte finish screens? Very confusing.

mullhill,

I don't know why those decisions were made.
