Make phone "act" connected to a router miles away

by Luddig / December 26, 2012 6:58 AM PST

I have an app installed on my iPhone that syncs to the desktop version on my mac. They do this through some sort of WiFi sync.
But when I'm travelling this won't work since they're not connected to the same wifi. My idea is that if I somehow make my phone act like it's on the same wifi as my mac, it would be able to sync.

I know this might sound crazy but,

Does anyone know any way of doing this?

The app in question is called "Bento", and I have an iPhone 4S and iMac (late-09) and have a apple airport router.
And I do have remote acsess to my Mac via a VNC connection, if it's for any help.
