Linux chaser theme. Let it rest.

by punterjoe / September 21, 2007 10:43 PM PDT

I appreciate the work that the creator put into it. He/She clearly is the next Paul Shaffer. But sometimes less is more.
It just seems to stall the inertia of the show, kind of like when a dramatic storyline screeches to a halt when it suddenly turns into a song/dance number. (Viva Laughlin anyone?)
Just one opinion.
What does everyone else think?

Less is more...but none is to little...

I appreciate the musically inclined creator of it as well, but I think it would be nice to have something shorter - maybe a Linux ringtone of sorts?

Creative..but nah
by Kev50027 / September 22, 2007 6:22 AM PDT

I agree, it's creative, and funny, but it was good once or twice. Maybe a 1 or 2 second clip would be better.

YES INDEED! 2 second sting is all it needs, not a 5 second buildup.

Not that often...

They've only played it like three times, that I've heard, anyway. It's not like they're playing it abusively.

I recon it adds to the "quirky" nature of the show, maybe add "the imperial march" from Star Wars for Vista stories and "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" for OSX Tiger, you know?, tounge in cheek mini satire kinda thing,

The Linux Chaser...
by navsimpson / September 22, 2007 2:34 PM PDT

... is the single most important piece of music of the past twenty years. It is unsurpassed, unmatched work of genius and all those who disparage it should be cast into fire.

Ummm... soooo... I like it is what I guess I'm sayin'.

What if after 6 months they change it to the Mousecateers theme song with different wording?, "L-I-N-U-X",instead of kiddies sing it you could get Tom and Molly to do the "Geek" version, (gotta make Molly wear the ears though),

Does satire get around the copyright?

In reply to: "I GOT AN IDEA!"

Because I'm sure it's copyrighted until at least 3052AD. Wink
Maybe to assuage Richard Stallman, they could sing "G-N-U/L-I-N/U-X-cuz it's free! speech"
meh. I'd get sick of that too, after hearing it twice. Happy

Keep the Linux Chaser Theme Song
by teddkg / September 22, 2007 11:03 PM PDT

I for one, say keep it for now. Maybe in 6months to a year it will get old, but hey, its only been played three times. I think it is amusing and hats of to the creator.
