by tomy83 / February 27, 2013 9:42 AM PST

I want to get sound from my LCDs at HiFi. I want to connect the optical digital audio output in the LCD with analog RCA to stereo hifi. I have a DAC (digital audio converter) through which i connected LCD with hifi stereo. does not work. I tried with all the options within the sound menu on my LCDs. Then I was connect my friends LCD and my hifi stereo and everything is worked normally. So the problem is not in the DAC. please help me
i have LG 32LD420

Is there a setting for PCM audio output?
by Pepe7 / February 28, 2013 12:17 AM PST

That may be the ticket if your LG has that particular audio setting. You have definitely ruled out the DAC as the culprit. It's possible your friend's HDTV automatically detects the signal correctly when outputting audio on his system, but it's hard to know w/o first having the model number, and also what sort of content you were passing along.

It's unlikely you could pass through sound from your laptop back out to your hifi. You are limited to OTA (over the air) audio streams, and some of them may only be stereo 2.0 and not surround.

An audio connection from your laptop should go directly to your old receiver, not to the HDTV.

Keep in mind that...

...you can often find a full fledged new AV receiver for a lot less $ than it used to cost. Might allow you to set up a proper system, or at least plant the seed as such Wink
