The laptops with P4's did that a lot. If reloading the OS doesn't help, be sure to do what the old techs do and open it up to clean and replace the heat sink compound. If that doesn't cure it, it's gone. Your seasoned tech will not replace motherboards and such due to cost and the consumer that wants a warranty.
