Question

iTunes

I have a g5 imac and an iPhone. Since I upgraded to iOS 7 itunes on my mac will not recognise the iPhone and says I should update to iTunes 11.1. However, my g5 will not run iTunes 11.1 so how can I sync my iPhone now.

It appears that even iTunes 11.0.5 is not able to sync with iOS 7 on iPhones and maybe other things.

Sorry, but this is a statement of fact and no one has offered any workarounds yet.

And as you know your G5 didn't get a newer version. I took the trouble to see at what version iOS 7 would sync and as even one version (sorry if I'm incorrect that 11.0.5 is the prior version) didn't sync it appears you have hit the big digital pothole.

Did you read my answer? I didn't offer any workaround since no one seems to have found one for the G5 line.

my Question was how can I sync my iPhone, for example, can I revert my iPhone to IOS 6 or can I download a media player other than iTunes---thank you for your patience I am very frustrated and am thinking of returning to windows

to downgrade from iOS7 to iOS6.1.x
There are a number of sites out there that are older and were made when it was possible.

This one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-HHvhqOZ4I shows the whole thing on video but one of the comments states that it no longer works.

I thought I'd check it out and as the messenger feel a little beat up but I knew that going in. I'm sure you know a few die hard G5 or PPC owners. Many have hair triggers but Tom did better than most.
