Install speech services in windows xp without office

by cooljmans25 / October 6, 2010 6:29 AM PDT

Ok, so I still have windows xp (lol) and I'm wondering how can I install text-to-speech and speech recognition on my computer without any third party programs. I do not have Office 2003 or Office XP, but rather, office 2010, which does NOT install these tools. I remember my old PC with Office 2003 had it all in the language bar, but I re-formatted that PC so I have the same problem with that PC, too. Please help me. Thanks!

The third option helped, but you could have just told me to install the following:
> Microsoft Speech Software Development Kit 5.1

lol that's what the article told me to do, but i had to read in between the lines!

install the Development Kit look at all the information you now have that you wouldn't have had.

I offered you the three links as I was pretty sure that one of them would satisfy your particular problem which was not all that clear from your initial post.

You (and my teacher at school) say that i have to be clearer when i explain stuff. It's true. but thanks for the information. you would be able to help me easier if I just asked "how do you install speech recognition in windows xp if i don't have a supported version of Microsoft Office". Hey, sometimes extra info helps, too!
