Answer
All your Pages documents will be untouched

when you install Pages.
Your documents are stored, by default, in the Documents folder while Pages is installed in the Applications folder.

How to backup.
Use an external hard drive and use Time Machine
OR
Copy your documents to a CD/DVD
OR
Open a Dropbox account and store them up there

All your Pages documents reside in your documents folder and will not be affected by the installation of Pages.
