After my sister installed IE8 via Microsoft Update, her File Menu is missing. How can this be fixed?

Have her press and hold the Alt key...
by John.Wilkinson / May 9, 2009 12:36 PM PDT

That temporarily displays the File menu in IE7 and IE8. She can also right-click the toolbar and check Menu Bar to have the traditional File menu displayed continuously.

Hope this helps,
John

IE8 Issue with the menu bar File menu missing
by RodsterinFL / August 20, 2010 11:52 PM PDT

Greetings

I came to work this morning to discover my newly imaged machines all have internet explorer 8 installed. When the browser is opened, the menu bar is there but it begins with Edit not File. The directions the post earlier mentioned is as if the menu bar is not showing at all. That is easily fixable but what if one of the drop downs is missing. No customization has been done. Understand that this is a never used lab of computers! Help!

Since this seems so unusual,
by MarkFlax Forum moderator / August 20, 2010 11:56 PM PDT

can you supply a screen print please?

Take a screen print, paste that into Paint, save it as a JPEG, then upload it to ImageShack, Flickr, or your own favorite image hosting site.

Let us have the URL web address to the 'full sized' image, not any thumbnail.

That may help us see the problem.

Mark

Also, what happens if you press Alt-F?
