Mac Lion OS 10.7-Grab for the game dollar
by Jmelton / July 24, 2011 5:38 AM PDT

Lion OS 10.7 has also locked out any administrator rights to the Big Fish gaming program. It prevents installations and deleting of any games as if you were a "user" without privileges. Makes it impossible to buy and use Big Fish games which I'm sure makes it very profitable for Apple's Apps game sales. There may be other game application that may also be effected, but I'm not sure. Might be something worth investigating.

My Mac Games still install and I can still buy Apple's games online, just not Big Fish games. Does anyone else have this same problem with any other game application/console?

Then you are just a little paranoid
by mrmacfixit Forum moderator / July 25, 2011 12:08 AM PDT

Had you contacted Big Fish Games, as I suggested in the beginning, you would have found this on their Tech Support pages:

"Appears Gamemanager has a problem with the new security features Lion has on board.

Currently: Installing new game does not work due the nature how Gamemanager tries to install. (E.G. where) Since he get a not permited response form the OS, he thinks that he needs Adminrights. "
Is there a workaround oder will we see a fixed Gamemanager and if yes, how soon?"

Answer

"I had someone really nice about it

this requires installing the beta version of the new games manager

Then change the permissions in info "read write" all of library and game manager. do not forget to click the small gear to allow all sub folders

and it works perfectly

good games"

Looks like there isn't a nasty capitalistic plot going on here after all, just a game company who did not do due diligence during the testing process with LION.

go into applications, then click on utilities, then click on java preferences, then check the box that says "Enable applet plug-in, then click on the advanced button and and click hide console, once you've done this then restart your browser and then you'll be able to load games...good luck my friend
