I have Samsung infuse need help on freeing it up

by hah1961 / February 25, 2013 8:53 AM PST

I am part of a AT&T network with a Samsung infuse smartphone. I have never used the data link or the wi-fi link I did all downloads through a network computer. The only features I want on a cell phone is Voice, Calender, contacts list and camera (download to computer through physical link). Is there any phone that provides those features without a data Plan? and what plans are available for the voice only function?

Depends on country but here in the US

It's nearly impossible to use a smart phone without a data plan. If you just need a voice phone, why not get such a thing? And you didn't tell what country and how many minutes you need. My son has that virgin mobile plan but will that work for you?

You would have to switch to Prepaid
by Pepe7 / February 25, 2013 10:56 AM PST

ATT requires a data plan for ATT branded smartphones on their post-paid plans. Only if you switched to one of the Nokia smartphone models they have never carried could you stay on your current post-paid plan and avoid the mandatory data charges.

I have friends who wanted to switch to iPhones but only use wifi/avoid data plans, and stay on ATT's network. I suggested the switch to H2O prepaid, a MVNO that uses ATT's native network for their service. All of them tell me it works like a charm since they are around wifi 99% of their days.
