I hate election night coverage

by Roger NC / November 6, 2012 9:31 AM PST

Here they're even giving percentages and margins, before any polls report, just on early voting.

National news with their maps and promises to break in and let you know as soon as they "call" a state.

I've said it every since the fisco in Florida with Bush/Gore. There should not be any release of numbers from any where until the last poll in the US closes. I'm not sure if that's in Alaska, Hiwaii, or were, but nothing should be released before the last polling place closes. And all their county by county, state by state speculation of who gets what is not only ridiculous, it's just wrong somehow.

Well, back to recorded programs, or even to housework. I may just lay down with a book and call it a night. And that's a fiction book, perferably scifi and/or fanasty.

Roger

I hear you, Roger.

I'm doing my best to ignore the constant barrage of political fortune tellers.

All I really would like to hear tonight is that 90% of those allowed to vote did vote!

the polling places couldn't handle 51% in a day

Much less a true majority of possible voters.

I wonder what was the last election that over 60% of the possible voters actually voted?

What we did in 2008....
by Josh K / November 7, 2012 12:32 AM PST

.....was switch to CNN at the top of each hour to get the newest projections, then watch something else until the top of the next hour. It's all filler and speculation in between anyway.

Last night we did keep it on the whole time but it was pretty maddening.
