I can't receive picture messages on my cell phone!

by anobeak / April 4, 2008 5:06 PM PDT

I have a Motarola Razr, and am a subscriber to US Cellular. I have friends sending me picture messages, and as I understand it, you are supposed to be able to receive them for free. But I don't receive them, or a message with a code to retrieve the picture online. Any suggesions?

Here is what others have told me

Some companies block such images, like Verizon and T-Mobile. Not sure what other are also blocking such.

They want you to pay an extra fee to view these images.

Do you have the picture messaging plan discussed here? Looks like they want you to have a picture messaging plan to be able to receive them. I guess that way there's no guessing if you want to get picture messages or not.

You probably need some type of messaging package at least and if you want to receive it on your phone (instead of the internet link) and an internet feature. Most carriers will allow you to have a pay per use feature instead of a package at a monthly rate.

US Cellular Picture Messaging

You'll need to contact the company to see if you have the correct code on your account for your phone number to have the pay as you go picture messaging. From what I understand, incoming text and picture messaging are free on most plans.
