i can't open pop up windows

hi, i don't know why but all of a sudden i can't open pop up windows like the ones that come from links when i regested here i had to activate the account by clicking the link and i couldn't do it it just wouldn't load i ended up copying and pasteing it
can any help me out (in very basic terms)

Not all web page links are meant to open in new windows. There is a setting in Internet Explorer which affects some links though, so try this: close Internet Explorer, then right-click its icon on the Desktop and choose Properties, Advanced tab, scroll down to the entry, "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts," make sure there's no tick against this. If there is, clear the tick, click Apply, click Ok. If there wasn't a tick against this entry anyway .... umm ... watch this thread for other alternative answers from the really clever respondents here.

It could be due to a pop-up stopper software that you might have installed.

If you use the Google Toolbar it has a built-in pop-up stopper.
There is a setting to click to allow pop-ups on the site.

Or some sites coded with Java/Javascript requires that you have MVM or JVM installed.
