I am trying to hook up laptop to tv

......but was surprised to find that my friend's late model tv has no hdmi port .It has the 3 plug composite array . No problem , found the correct cable on Amazon , but then see they also have hdmi to tv adaptors . Do I need an adaptor somewhere in this connection ? Hate to fry my computer or his tv ! Any help much thanked !

I don't see make, model of all things and that cable. It's a shame folk continue to buy HDMI to composite or such CABLES as they are a scam. I will no longer debate this as folk seem intent on parting with their money.

Thanks to all who replied to my post . , understood . Actually I have been trying to take care of this remotely for my friend .Of course I know my computer , a 2 year old Acer Aspire with W 7 , but not his TV ! But I'll see it tomorrow . Sounds lame , I know , sorry . I'll come back with more info . Thanks again .

If it's hdmi (computer) to composite (tv), then...

yes, you do need a converter (adapter) because hdmi is digital and composite is analog signal.
