General discussion

http://my.msn.com

I was wondering if anybody else is having the problem I am having with IE http://my.msn.com as their homepage.

When I open IE, sometimes my.msn.com page which is my homepage opens up blank. I then have to click on the refresh, home or the go button to open my.msn.com.

Microsoft claims they are having tech problems with the page and are working on the problem with high priority, if you can believe that. They say only some computers are affected. Any ideas and thoughts greatly appreciated.

Running Windows 98SE with IE 6, Athlon 800 MHz, 384 mb sdram. Haven't found any parasites or viruses

Sorry but I cannot help. So you do not come up empty handed I will comment. I think the my.msn.com page has been flaky since they did an upgrade (?) some months back. It recently has worked most of the time but I have noted it is slow to load.

I have question for you. How did you set it to load up to my.msn.com without first loading msn.com? Sort of like the my.msn since it can be personalized in such a way to include information of interest to the operator.

Hope you get some answers. Good luck!

Happy

Glenn

That is easy enough to do. Click on Tools at the top of the screen, click on internet options, then the general tab and type http://my.msn.com in the address bar. Click on apply then OK. It will become your homepage and should open when you open IE. Good luck to you and thanks for the comeback.

I want my.msn.com back!!!!! There are no tools in Windows Explorer and I have my Internet Explorer set up for a different address. All my important information is on my.msn.com. This is rediculious!

the "Tools"mentioned is in Internet Explorer, not Windows Explorer. IE then Tools, then Internet Options.

Secondly, Windows Explorer does have a Tools menu option. If yours doesn't, then there is something amiss with your system.

Third. Why are you posting in a discussion which ended some 5 years ago? The original posters are long gone.

And finally, why not state your problem 'clearly and concisely', with full details of the problem. "I want my.msn.com back!!!!!" and "This is rediculious!" does not describe anything.

PS, You will do better by creating your own thread/discussion, rather than hoping that someone else will look-in if they pass this old thread by.

Don't know anything about 5 years ago.

First of all this just happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I am running Windows xp pro with plenty of storage just sitting to be used with cable connection. There is no reason to have to set up another page when I pay for my premium each month. I do not know anything about 5 years ago since this is just happening in the last month. You do not have to be sarcastic.

i learned a trick from the technician once about tools, because sometimes on mine, it is set not to show the menu bar. if it does not, click on alt for a few seconds and it should bring it right up for you. than go under tools, and internet options.

I have to go through all the same changes as you do, to get it to come up. I am running a Windows 98, 500MHz. I was using Windows ME on my last puter a older model Dell and did not have this problem at all.

Also: had the same problem with my.msn.com
by Junk_Mail / December 18, 2004 6:59 AM PST

I had that problem using: XP home, Celeron 2.80ghz, emachine T2895. Go to internet options and clear out your history, cookies, and saved pages, Then re-boot, then throw in an extra 512 MB of memory, Then cuss at it for a few more days. It will magically clear up until next time it wants to be that way. =)

i went to go to my.msn.com and it brought me here, so we are not alone. I usually have to go under tools, and than under internet options, under general I type in htt://my.msn.com, but lately it likes to bring me up to another page of msn, where i have to go way over to the right, and scroll the settings, and click on My Msn. hope that helps, you are not alone.
