Some report a v6101 restore media works with a v6102 model but since you have none the cheap and fast fix is to order these from hp.com

Just wondering. Why did you pass up making those DVDs?
Bob

Thank fo the advise Bob, but i've managed to find an easier way - and it can apply with any hp/compaq nootebook - just disable sata in setup and you good to install any OS you desire. Please pass on.

Appeared just shortly after the SATA drives began to be the new standard. But if you didn't know you think you discovered something great.
