unlink account
by Marc Bennett CNET staff/forum admin / January 29, 2010 2:45 AM PST

Hi loravk,

Your CNET account was created using your Facebook credentials, so it will always be linked to Facebook .

(Facebook Connect can also be used to merge to an existing CNET account - in those cases we can unlink Facebook from the CNET account, but not when Facebook was used to create a new account).

The only way to remove the link will be to for us to delete the account. Then you can create a new CNET account through our traditional registration process.

Would you like for me to delete your existing account?

Quick question, Marc...

If a Cnet member links his/her existing Cnet account to a Facebook account, is there an automated way for the member to unlink the accounts, or must it be done back-end?

Thanks.
John

on the backend
by Marc Bennett CNET staff/forum admin / January 29, 2010 3:26 AM PST

We currently don't have any frontend feature for a user to unlink an existing CNET account. We didn't expect to have enough demand to warrant the development time, and so far that has been the case.

The volume of unlink requests is low enough that we can handle each request ourselves, and it only takes a few seconds of our time to do so.
