Place the 2Wire modem/router at the control panel. Connect the DSL input (with filters properly installed) to the 2Wire modem/router. Connect the Cat5 cables to the LAN ports on the rear of the modem/router. Connect a PC to the other end of the Cat5 cables. Return the Netgear router.
If the prewired Cat5 does not have RJ-45 connectors you'll need to add them. You'll need to get a wiring diagram on how to install the connectors.
You can get the connectors and crimping tool at Home Depot.
I have a condo with pre-wired CAT5 network.
I see a central panel with cable coaxial and CAT ethernet cables.
I have DSL service which came with a 2Wire gateway router.
I also bought a Netgear router.
How do I set up a wired network with my DSL routers using the builtin Ethernet cables & jacks?
I am willing to spend some time and money to set up the wired network.
Could you please help me?
