HOW to play Video8 tapes with NO camcorder?

by BethTX / November 5, 2004 5:04 AM PST

My Sony Video8 camcorder bit the dust and I've upgraded to a mini-dv camcorder.

I'm left with precious family video on tapes I cannot play.

Other than going the expensive route of having them professionally transferred -- anyone have any ideas?

thanks!

since it's just to xfer a finite number of tapes and no other purpose, I would either try ot borrow one OR find a cheap or "distressed" hi8 camcorder (e.g., something broken on it) on ebay. --fj

playing video 8 without a camcorder

I have the same problem.

someone has suggested acquiring a whatsit that will allow one to play video 8 in ordinary video player.

have you come across this or have you found a better solution.

I have the possible additional problem that my video 8 tapes are NTSC.

good luck David
