If the Sony thing has a Toslink in-port, you will not get HD audio & if the disk is PCM all you will get is 2.0 but your not getting surround sound as it is anyways with 2 speakers, you need at lease 5.0 speakers to have surround sound.

When you do not give a model # here, more info the better.

This is what I found given the info...

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=Sony+Dream+System&hl=en&client=safari&prmd=ivns&resnum=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=12230872618433837462&ei=i_YsTeHSL4m6sQOhppjRBg&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CEgQ8wIwAA#ps-sellers

I still do not know the full specs. If it has a Toslink port use that, you will not get HD audio but you will get 5.1 unless the BD audio is PCM you will only get 2.0, nothing more, few disks have PCM audio.

# ASIN: B000066G0J
# Item model number: DAV-C900

keep in mind its from 2002 so i expect it doesnt have HD audio. Also I was thinking of replacing the sony box with something else that could connect to a blueray player. any recommendations?
