HOW to download transfer to flash drive

by bjh1225 / December 23, 2010 11:37 AM PST

I did a new install of Win XP PRO on my husband's HP XW 8200. The driver for the network adapter did not install so he cannot get on the internet. I went to the HP download center and did a download of the driver. My problem is that I cannot find how to transfer it to a flash drive so I can install it on that computer. It only wants to install the download on my computer.

Please explain how I can transfer this download to a USB drive.

Thanks, bjh

If you saved the file and can copy/paste it to the USB

device, should be a piece of cake.

For example if you saved it to the desktop...right click on the file, copy it, then using explorer go to the USB device ... right click on the USB device and paste it there.

Let us know how it works.

I kept tinkering and finally accomplised the transfer so husband is on the internet. I am 'Internet savvy' but not great on 'computer how to'. I will save your instructions as I will probably need them again. My problem was that I was only given the option to Run the download and I surely didn't want it on this computer. I am 79 so it takes me longer to figure the 'how to s'.

Thanks much, bjh
