A standard CAT5 Ethernet cable will be fine. Your laptop should automatically detect the connection and prompt you to connect, if it doesn't do that automatically as well.
I have a laptop that connects to the internet with the built in wireless card through the router connected with a ethernet cable to my desktop PC. Problem is I'm getting remote access for work and it doesn't work with a wireless connection, so I can't currently use my laptop with the remote access. My router has 4 ethernet cable inputs and thinking I just need another ethernet cable from the router to my laptop for the remote access to work? Do I need a certain type of ethernet cable? Please help, Thanks!
