You can't just delete files. . .

You'll wind up with more problems than you are having now as there are registry settings associated with McAfee.

If it was me I'd reinstall McAfee and then uninstall it. A visit to the McAfee site might provide insite towards uninstalling it.

Bill, More Information Please
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / January 21, 2006 10:15 AM PST

Which operating system are you using?

Which version of McAFee are you using? Which programs are you using? There are all sorts of McAfee programs..

McAfee Security Center only?
McAfee Internet Security Suite 6, 7, or 8?
McAfee Antivirus 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 9 or 10? Enterprise or Retail versions?
McAfee Firewall? Which versions?
McAfee PopUp Blocker?

First, you shouldn't have simply deleted the folder in Program Files...As with most programs when you do that, you'll now need to manually remove all the remaining files and registry entries..

I should be able to provide specific manual removal instructions but I'll need to know the specific information from above.

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Go to website

I suggest you go to their website and follow the instructions for removing what you have installed. I would suggest reinstalling and then follow instuctions using the steps listed. You have to uninstall each one, if more than one exists, and then finish with the Security Center, if you have it. I just removed it from my pc and checked the site before I did it. I had McAfee Security Center, Internet Security, Antivirus, Firewall, and the PopUp Blocker. Security Center was the last to be removed. Be ready for alot of shut down and restarting.
