Question

How do I extract data from a website into Excel on a Mac?

by ldinour / April 16, 2013 7:57 AM PDT

I am trying to create a database from a set of public comments submitted via regulations.gov. There will be over 240,000 separate comments (each has a separate webpage), and I do not have the time to copy and paste the information from each into an excel spreadsheet. Is there a way to extract the data in one action? I've tried creating a query in Excel, but it didn't work. I'm using Excel 2011 for Mac, OS X version 10.8.3, and Firefox. Thank you so much for your help!

Thank you for replying, Bob. Unfortunately, I don't have the first clue about programming. I will try a FOI request, though I'm not hopeful.
