How can I set up my own personal cloud?

by Clovisrex / December 10, 2012 12:08 AM PST

I've see ads for external storage drives that come with software for setting up your own cloud storage system. Has anyone done this? Any information on how I go about doing this?

First you need a cloud.

Let's see what a cloud is.

That's just the primer. Most folk just want access to their files from anything and everywhere and Clouds are one thing and storage is another. To build your first cloud server may be more than you bargained for as you test that the cloud keeps working as you unplug a server from the cloud.

So, what's the goal here? Is it really a cloud or just a network drive?
