by Avinne / February 20, 2013 4:34 AM PST

I have a newer Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Home edition. When I open my pictures it shows a folder of pictures, the when I open the folder I have a list of irfanview icons and I would like to see thumbnails of the pictures. When I use the options on upper right, where it has a list of small,med.etc., tiles list what ever. No matter what I choose I do not get the thumbnails. Can you help

Try this:

- Open the Control Panel
- In the upper right search box, type "performance"
- Click on "Performance Information and Tools"
- In the left panel, select "Adjust visual effects"
- Find "Show thumbnails instead of icons" and check the box
- Select "Apply", then "OK"

Hopefully this should fix your problem.

I had this happen to me and my folder of 18 MegaPixel RAW images did that. IrfanView was able to read such but Windows 7 could not until I installed my camera's "RAW DRIVER."

Every picture is shown as an icon, I mean ones transferred from cameras, other computers, flashdrives, all of them.Changing something on a camera is not going to solve my problem. But thank you, by the way I am not very computer savy, so keep it simple. I would like to add, I have 3 other computers and the pictures are all displayed as thumbnails there.
