To assist you properly, we need to see what exactly you are working with. IME, all prewired residences do not offer the exact same options. Upload a few photos and post the links here, especially closeup of the spaces/connections.
Also, be more specific about what sort of functionality you need in each room/space. E.g. blu ray, ipod dock, etc. Be as detailed as possible. (TV sound in all rooms, etc.)
Before you get started though, keep in mind that since alll 5 of your 'surround' speakers are in the ceiling, you won't actually enjoy proper sound. The speakers need to be closer to the floor level, at least some of them. Visit crutchfield.com for diagrams that illustrate this. It will be a hodgepodge of a mess, but not really surround per se. Don't forget to add a subwoofer too
I bought a new condo that is prewired for ceiling speakers throughout. There are 5 in the main living room for surround sound there, 2 in the kitchen/dining area, 2 in the master bedroom and 1in the master bathroom. Can someone with more experience help me figure out what I need to buy, i.e. what type of receiver and what other equipment I would need? Thanks; I really appreciate it!!
