Type NTPASSWD at google to set the windows password.
As to the BIOS password the machine I went to dell.com
Dell writes:"Disabling a Forgotten Password and Setting a New Password
To reset system and/or administrator passwords, see "Clearing Forgotten Passwords."" at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx620/en/ug/A02/advfeat0.htm#wp1117484
It appears that nothing stops you from curing this issue. Just a little google and dell.com
I am new to this forum and my computer crashed yesterday.
I have a Dell OptiPlex GX620 and am running Windows XP.
Yesterday, while I was using the computer a blue screen with a really long error message popped up that basically said "reboot your computer" popped up, so I did that. The computer was able to reboot and worked for a couple of hours but then the screen or system froze. So I shut down the computer. Now, whenever I try to reboot it shows the Dell screen and then immediately goes to this error message: "Type system password and <Enter Password> Enter Password:". It's on a black screen and pops up when ever I try to restart the computer.
And other than a login password onto windows I did NOT set up a system password.
I have tried researching this error message, but the only thing I found was on a different forum that said to try a BIOS password. I tried the BIOS passwords and the Dell one as well and it didn't work.
Oh, and whenever I try to type a system password in, it makes a beeping noise and then says "** Incorrect password. ** Number of unsuccessful password attempts: 7 or more. System failed! Must power down."
So if anyone could help I would really appreciate it! Thanks!
