There are no Sony reps here. Time to call that in or just return it.
I have been having issues getting my BDP-S360 Blu-Ray player to work properly with my KDL-32EX500 LCD TV via HDMI. I have tried calling Sony tech support with no success and I am probably going to return the TV.
When I connect the Blu-Ray player to the TV, the initial setup screen that allows me to select the resolution works properly and everything works properly if I select 480p as the output resolution. If I select AUTO or 1080p as the output resolution, I get "no signal" message or an "incompatible signal" error on the TV. If I still say OK to this resolution and I play a Blu-Ray disc, then the disc will play at 1080p/24 consistently without issue. If I try to play extras on that same disc, and I have tried this with multiple discs, then I get the "no signal" message. The TV spends about 10 seconds on a black screen seeming to find a signal and then nothing. If I try to go to the Blu-Ray player HOME screen to change a setting, I get the same result. I also get the same result for all parts of a DVD. My guess it that the AUTO or 1080p mode is having some sort of issue with lower resolutions and a change in a TV setting might resolve this.
Other things of note:
-I have a Hi Def Direct TV box that displays multiple resolutions via HDMI without issue.
-I have tested the Blu-Ray player on another 1080p TV via HDMI and it worked perfectly.
-I have tested a Panasonic Blu-Ray player that works perfectly on the other TV and with the KDL-32EX500, I get an error on the Blu-Ray player that signifies some issue with HDMI and "no signal" on the TV.
-I have tested multiple HDMI cables.
-When I press the HOME button while watching a movie on the Blu-Ray player, the HOME screen shows up for about 3 seconds and then the TV goes to "no signal"
