Hate 3D Movies

by frash82 / March 30, 2013 2:19 PM PDT

Just wondering what others think of 3D movies. I personally don't like them at all. They don't look anything close to reality and seem to be just a gimmick to me. Seems the movie makers are forcing us to watch 3D and are going to make all movies in 3D, just another way to get more money out of us. I saw GI Joe last night and the 3D gave me a headache, it will be the last 3D movie I will ever watch, and I certainly wouldn't buy a 3D TV.
Anyone else have thoughts about this?

Don't care that much about 3D movies to say that I hate or love them. Watching them is a bit of fun, but I don't do that regularly.

I don't hate or love them. I found the technique fascinating for a while. But by now I have realized it's just a visual gimmick and doesn't do much for a movie itself. It's really just a cash thing. They use it so the people will go back into the theatres and watch the Hollywood stuff, because 3D is still not common on your TV screen back home.

And most movies don't make much use of it anyway.

The theatres should atleast always offer the 2D versions of all these 3D flicks, too. But alot of them don't do that. So the moviegoer has no other choice but to pay an extra buck for a pair of glasses. They do that obviously on purpose so they can milk the audience better.

The glasses also make the movies look much darker. It's almost like watching a movie with sunglasses on.

No. Alot of moviegoers complain about the films getting darker because of wearing the glasses. The 3D glass has a certain dark tone to it, hence the movies are darker when you wear them.

I am not complaining about the 3D itself. I have no trouble seeing the depth of it. So the effect itself works fine for me.
