Hard Drive getting smaller

by gathel / June 22, 2004 1:05 PM PDT

I have a Fujitsu MPF320AT 20 G. I reformated and now I only have 11.2 G. I used FDISK first before Format and set up 1 drive. BIO set to auto detect.
PII 300mh S1854 Trinity400 motherboard. Award 4.51 dated March 2000. 128mb memory. What could have happen to the other 8.8 G. of HD?

Open a DOS window, type the following for others to see what's up.

FDISK /STATUS

There's a space after FDISK

I hope your typographic errors were only on the words and not numbers, but it appears that you have one partition (C:) of 11,500 MB. There seems to be some other usage of drive 1, but its not showing with FDISK, which I find a little odd. Its possible that someone tried to install another OS and is trying to go back to some other configuration. To fix this, I would have to determine if we need to save any files, then I would start over with FDISK and install the OS again.

hmm... 1. maybe the disk got partitioned
2. maybe you have an insanely large buffer set by accident

I would try formatting again. Trying to back track is sometimes more painful.
