Gran Turismo (PS2) won't play on PS3

by Rollbar / November 29, 2007 12:30 AM PST

Web site says GT4 should play if I update my PS3 which I have done. However when I try to run the game I get a message to update my PS3, (I'm running PS3 update 2.something).

Anyone else found a fix for this?

Thanks for any help....

Well..

I'm running 2.01; as confirmed when I check my PS3 info.

And the status of backward compatibility indicates GT4 will play with minor issues....but it does not play.

Won't start actually.

I have also faced same problem! There are so many evidences that the latest iteration of the PS3 has all the hooks in place to play PS2 games. There is even the PS2 saved game tool still intact in XMB within the PS3. It makes perfect sense that at some point Sony will EOL (end of life) the PS2 and start putting up PS2 games on the PSN. This will of course mean that there will be a firmware update with the emulator tucked inside it as well. Till then i think we just have to be a bit more patient and play them on the PS2.
