It worked but was hampered by a few things. Here's what I'm seeing. Folk appear to be clamoring for many things and one is a browser as good as their PC and they want it for a low price.
So while the Google TV did try to get there it flunked on many web video streaming sites so I moved onto something else.
If you research ChromeCast you learn they leveraged what they learned from Google TV and moved in 2 directions. ChromeCast nails the cheap player spot at 35 bucks and then they are moving upscale with other products.
It's not a failure but a stepping stone along the product development path.
Has Google TV been successful? I have read that it is not very popular buy why is that?
