Gateway NV52 boot issue

by russkamm / January 17, 2013 11:13 PM PST

I am having a problem with my NV52 series laptop. When I hit the power button the power indicator comes on I hear a fan run briefly then nothing. There are times it will boot up but most times it wont. I've tried the usual tricks with removing battery hold power button reseating memory. Can someone please tell me what is wrong? Thank you in advance!

Seen a few too many of this model.

Usually if the usual cheap parts such as batteries (there are more than one in there), drives and such don't fix it we swap out the motherboard. So far just a few folk have paid for that work.

Sorry, let me restate this.

This was a very popular low cost model so the reason we see them is not due to any defect we know of but it's like you see so many of a certain model in the shop. Because so many were sold.
