If it's a common issue it should be on the Gateway website in the knowledge base.
The DVD drive is an Optiarc. I recall some time ago that this issue was popping up everywhere, and there were instructions with regard to accessing the Registry and making changesso that the drive would be recognized as a device in the laptop. If anyone could direct me to those instructions, I would appreciate it.
Alternatively, can someone recommend a reliable DVD drive replacement as well as instructions for replacement? I am knowlegeable with regard to working on PCs, but I have never modified or even opened a laptop.
