Firefox...How to restore previous session without option...

by Krahe / June 21, 2009 2:58 PM PDT

I usually leave my computer on and Firefox open all the time and on the occasion it's turned off, Firefox usually presents me the option to restore my previous session. As many times before, I chose restore session, but accidentally closed one of the windows as it was loading. I panicked and tried a system restore to earlier today. That failed twice and now I'm wondering if there is way to manually restore the windows and tabs I previous had open? I am using Firefox 3.0.11

You can visit the directory %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles, open the folder <random characters>.default, and open the file sessionstore.js with a text editor (such as Notepad), then copy-and-paste the URLs, representing the websites that were open before closing the browser, found in that file into your browser. A bit tedious, but it will work in a pinch.

Other points:
-> System Restore does not affect the Firefox profile or other personal files.
-> There are extensions that give you greater control over tab restoration options you may want to look into for future use.

Hope this helps,

Light bulbs you shouldn't buy

There are plenty of dimmable LED light bulbs, but make sure you don't buy the ones that flicker when you dial them down.
