Earthlink Dial up

by moneymm / August 26, 2010 6:40 AM PDT

I need to use earthlinks Dial Up Service. I have been using Verizon Fios Landline for about 2 months, but 2 weeks ago they told me I was making data/fax calls, so I had to switch to business, I switched to business, and they said the same thing, the only way I can make these calls (to earthlinks dial up service) is if I pay per minute. however, this Would cost me like $10,000 a month.

Earthlinks Dial up service, doesnt allow VOIP, (supposively, i havent tried, but thats what they said) can anyone confirm or deny that?

Does anyone have some type of work around for making unlimated nationwide data calls to earthilnks dialup service? without paying thousands of dollars per month.

maybe using a cellphone somehow to make the calls? a phone company that doesnt restrict data calls in the unlimited nationwide long distance calling?

I already have fios internet, so I am not looking for another internet option, I need to use earthlink's DSL (too long of a story).

thanks.

I've been using (and still use) Netzero dial-up since 2001. I pay only $10 a month to Netzero. And I pay the phone company 9 cents every-time I dial-up to go online! Hope this helps!

I had Earthlink dial up for many years; DSL is not available with earthlink in all areas;that is probably why you cannot get VOIP through them because it requires high speed. However, when you order dial up you are supposed to have access to a local number. You should be only paying for "local calls" be it flat rate monthly or you may be paying minutes per month, but you should still only be connecting to a local phone number. The problem seems to be with your landline phone company. Business/fax lines are usually cheaper (I have no idea why) so I don't see what their problem is that use a fax with it.
