Antivirus: Norton AntiVirus, Updated and Enabled

Every time I boot up I get this error message--Could not load or run C:\users\admin\appdata\local\temp\dwm.exe' specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry. I don't have Desktop Windows Manager on my pc. I can't find the dwm.exe file anywhere. I just x out of the error box and boot up but I'd really like to get rid out the error message. Thanks

I think you may want to head over to bleepingcomputer.com to have them interpret the other entries. Be sure to read the posting rules since I see you had chrome and more running. They will help but you have to make it easy for them. That is, you don't want them to slog through items that don't need to be in the report.

That file does not run from a temp folder. You might see this error after some virus/trojan/malware is cleaned off. But I didn't read where such was removed.

Norton and MSFT should detail why such damage happened in the first place. Here I look at the system with HIJACKTHIS to see where this needs to be removed or fixed.

Well, Norton doesn't spot it or remove it.

At least you can cure the DWM error if you want.

Sadly I think folk think a little too highly of Norton. There's a known hijacker in that system it it doesn't report it.

Grif has other scanners that you can use for free after you cure the DWM and remove that hijacker. Keep in mind that some items are removed by use with tools.

How do I "cure" the dwm error?

You had it up on the screen.

You would place a checkmark on the item you want gone and tell the app to fix it.
