That is usually in what they call the "chipset" driver package.

You went out of your way to create a problem for yourself. Put Windows 8 back on and install Classic Start like Bob says. You'll have the Start button back and your USB ports will work again.

Read and notice something in this link?

http://forums.cnet.com/7726-7587_102-2699006.html

Notice the drivers were not on the HP WEB site. They were on a FTP site and only a HP rep will know this.
Also, the install order mattered. As I don't have this model I can't direct you to where it is.

I do have a lot of experience with installing Windows on thousands of PCs but not this model. However the USB driver is rarely by itself. It was an odd install back in Windows 95/98 days but outside of that odd system it's always enabled by the motherboard chipset driver. If HP didn't put that on their site then I'd be looking at AMD.com

-> I forgot something above. One poor soul was trying to install drivers in a non-admin account. That failed and the poor soul was adamant that Microsoft was not correct in locking out driver installs in the non-admin accounts. I can't speak for that company but be sure you are in an admin account.

I also forgot that USB 3.0 drivers may require Windows 7 to be at SP1 since OS support for USB 3.0 was not in Windows 7 from memory.

Yes you are right..i also tryed to install the sp1 win 7 and still they were still yellow ? on the hardware list.

I contacted amd and asked em the same about the missing usb drivers that SHOULD be in a chipset driver and SHOULD work in sp1 win 7.

I understand its hard to get drivers for win xp, but win 7 is still new, so i should perhaps contact an hp worker like he did and ask for a usb driver ?

The problem is so : My mother bought the pc in a store with me, and i told her i woould install win 7 for her because she is use to that system from her old pc, and she is NOT a computer person..trust me..and i dont want to spend 1 more minute with win 8..i rather spend my whole life on getting this pc to work with win 7 rather than win 8.

To stop asking for USB drivers. As these are now in the chipset package you could confuse most support folk by asking for that.

Good luck in your search and more.
