"Discuss" addon

by danawenco / December 26, 2009 2:08 PM PST

Hi, I found the following add-on listed on my IE8 and would like to find out what it is:

Name = Discuss
Publisher = Not Available
Type = Explorer Bar
Status: Enabled
File: shdocvw.dll

I know that shdocvw.dll is used by IE, but from what I've been read it doesn't seem to be an add-on. I also have IE8 installed on another PC but I don't see this add-on being listed. Many thanks.

System: Vista SP2
Anti-malware: SuperAntiSpyware, AVG, MBAM

http://www.google.com/search?q=discuss+explorer+bar

Not the most difficult search given your post:
Name = Discuss
Publisher = Not Available
Type = Explorer Bar
Status: Enabled
File: shdocvw.dll

I didn't even have to add the additional search modifier site:support.microsoft.com

"Discuss" add-on

In reply to: How I found it:

Very good, but this also works
1) Launch IE 8
2) (path) Tools>Manage add-ons>Toolbars and Extensions>(click on)Discuss>hit the hyperlink to use your defalut search provider to find out about ad-on.
My only questions, why they will not state the publisher, and is this add-on necessary?

Not on point but....

I notice you have several anti malware programs installed- along with AVG.
I spoke to tech support at AVG in March2012 because I like the proggie but the problem is, it's not compatible with(at least) Malware Bytes. I chose to keep malware bytes and go to a different antivirus.
Now if I can just find an answer to the "Discuss" " add-on!
