The device manager is part of the MS OS setup. It isn't related as part of the direct install itself in most cases. What I suspect you need are the "drivers" for each device. In that regard you *HAVE TO KNOW* what device and product it is. The exact model# in order to use the right driver to install. Otherwise, you will get the red/yellow flag within the device manager listing calling for attention. If there is an error displayed, not it down and report back. I strongly suggest you don't use any Drivers supplied by MS. Instead, visit the HP support website and get the drivers for your model# PC. If required enter the S/N# to better narrow down your drivers. Of course, HP had to have sold or installed those when the PC was 1st brought. If these are later installed from some other source, you need to check and verify what product they are and proceed forward.
I installed a new HD and Win XP Pro. Have Service Pack 3. For some reason I do not have the devise managers for Ethernet Controller and 2 Plug and Play items. I Have looked on the HP and MS download centers but I cannot find them. Where can I find the needed Devise Managers ?
