Please share the model numbers of the laptop and the printer. Do you get any communication error?
1. Check if the Printer is able to copy or scan standalone using the operator panel.
2. If this does not help, perform a power cycle and reset defaults for the printer.
3. If the printer is able to copy or scan standalone using the operator panel, check the wireless connection.

On most of the Dell printers, there is a Wi-Fi indicator light. Is the light off, solid orange, blinking orange or green. Once you share the model numbers, I will be able to help you in an extensive manner.
