Inspect the LCDs on both as the Inspiron may not be as crisp as some other laptops.
HP is a no-sale in my book as they failed to fix my laptop in warranty and later walked out after months of responding to their followups. HP, if you couldn't fix my laptop let along correct a product flaw, no sale.
Nod to Dell.
I'm looking for some advice on which laptop to pick. I'm a college student (architecture), and have narrowed my choice to these two - due to i7 processor (multi-core proc needed for renderings), and dense 1080p display with matte finish.
Here are the specs:
Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition:
i7-3612QM (2.1 GHz, 3.1 GHz Turbo, 6 MB Cache)
8 GB DDR3 (1600 MHz) RAM
750 GB 5400 RPM
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7730M
HP ENVY dv6-7360ew:
2.4 GHz Intel Core i7-3630QM
8 GB DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M (2 GB GDDR3 dedicated)
1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
these are in comparable price, and the HP seems a little better - better processor, keyboard has a keypad.
So, it comes down to reliability and design quality overall - which do you think is better? I've read some unfavourable posts on HP's customer service, but I don't know how DELL's look like.
