Date & Time Resetting in Windows Mobile

by vnchoudhary / May 25, 2011 5:29 PM PDT

This happens when the battery completely runs out or is taken out and the back up battery discharges. At this point the date resets to the 1st Jan 2007. Is there a way to reset the device Date & Time using application.
- Can I achieve this using MDM, if yes then how?
- How to achieve the same using programatically, any example will be appreciable.

That's sadly how this works on many of these units.

However newer units set the time from the cellular connection. But old units have us setting the time.

I agree with you newer units comes with buildin functionality, but how to achieve this on existing devices, where such functionality is not available?

Where would you want to get the time from?
by Kees_B Forum moderator / May 26, 2011 6:37 PM PDT

Any program you write can't look at your watch, so it seems you would have to type in the time. I assume Windows mobile already has a program for that.

What is it?
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / May 27, 2011 7:53 AM PDT

Microsoft issued ActiveSync (AS) and Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC.)

You write MDM so tell what it is.

As to adding an app I suggest you search the usual places for such or write it. Visual Studio 2008 was great for that work.
