CPU running 100 percent while browsing

by mutton777 / October 21, 2006 10:08 AM PDT

I have win pro xp2, 80 gb h.drive,(new) and connected to internet by adsl 100mbps..NFTS system.752mb memory
clean computer. search&destroy, ad aware, use housecall, and have avg installed.

When I browse the internet, my CPU is shooting up to
96-100 percent and staying there. the same applies
when running ad aware and spybot.. but not agv, which remains at 6-8 percent.
Windows Task manager shows 22 applications, but only I.EXP.EXE using all the cpu.
Is this normal?, as I am typing this, cpu is 2 percent.fan speed normal, and so is temp ...
any help would be appreciated. mike.

The full name I have on task manager is IEXPLORE.EXE.
and strangely is the only image name in capital letters. further down the listI have explorer.exe,
the IEXPLORE.EXE is using 36k memory, and explorer. exe 22k.
