Correcting errors in the volume Bitmap

by jaymax36 / May 7, 2010 4:45 AM PDT

XP SP3 - 160 Gb, SATA, NTFS, 2 drives in RAID 1 [assuming it is the system disk, other larger storage disk on system]
Went down during the night - automatic reboot and running chkdsk apparently
for the last 6 hrs at least, continuously scrolling

"Correcting errors in the volume Bitmap"

What is an appropriate strategy for dealing with this?

How long can one expect the scrolling output, "Correcting errors in the volume Bitmap", from the same configuration on a 500 Gb disk?

Probably shorter than with you.

It might be time to consider the data on that volume lost.
