Convert a photo into a drawing

by arqpitrolla / December 6, 2007 3:25 AM PST

Hi!
I was looking for a software or plugin to convert photos into realistic drawings.
I'm not convinced by the results that I obtained using some well known photoshop plugins.
Does anyone know if such software exists?

arqpitrolla,
You are in luck. The Adobe App is called Adobe Streamline.
Wonderful program. I have been using it for years.
Creates files from Tiff files to Illustrator on the fly in CMYK or B&W in tone up to 64 colors or just one? LINE ART.
It is a great program. So simple. So neat and easy to use. I love it. You will too.
Glad you came to the Graphics Forum.
Good luck with the program. You will love it

arqpitrolla, Glad you found it. I hope the program is free and also has B&W like Adobe offers in Streamline.

Have fun with it.

Illustrator

Adobe Streamline has been discontinued - as Adobe have integrated this type of thing into their software.

There is a 'live trace' option in Adobe Illustrator CS3 and upwards (as far as I know). You place a photo, click on Live Trace and mess with the settings to see what amount of detail etc you want.

The program then converts your photo to an editable vector file : )
